Hofsgrund is a hamlet of Oberried and sits at 1,075 m. The Rees family's house stands on its own, meadow all around, forest behind. Freiburg is about 30 minutes away by car; without a car, take the train to Kirchzarten and the bus on via Oberried. Walking trails start at the door and the Schauinsland summit is within reach on foot. In winter there are lifts and cross-country trails in Hofsgrund, and ski hire is in the house itself.
